Rachael Boyer was named Pelahatchie Elementary School’s (PES) Parent of the Year.

”Rachael hit the ground running as our Pelahatchie Elementary School representative on the steering committee for the district bond issue,” said Principal Lisa Attkisson. “She accepted the challenge of getting this bond issue passed and encouraged others to do the same.  Our community is blessed to have parents that truly care about our schools and the children we serve.”

Though she was born in Natchez, Boyer was raised in Nashville, but went to college at Hinds Community College in Raymond, where she met her husband, Blake, in a physical education class where he was her country line dancing partner.

Boyer describes her life as “fun, full and overflowing.”

She is the mother of four, Katie Belle, 14 an eighth grader; Eli, 12 in the sixth; Branch, first; and Mary Chesney, a toddler.  She is involved at PES in taking photos, fundraising, the PTO and promoted the Bond Issue this year.

She also operates family photography business.  Her husband is the owner of Ambiance Landscaping in Pisgah, and they live in the Holly Bush area in a log cabin he built in 2006.  The family is active at Pinelake Church at the Reservoir.

Formerly a children’s minister at the Florence Church of God, she said enjoys photography because, “it is a tool that brings people in front of you.”
