The Pelahatchie Public Library, part of the Central Mississippi Regional Library System (CMRLS), was named Library of the Year for the mid-sized category at annual staff development on February 2. The Pelahatchie Library had the highest percent increase in program attendance, circulation, number of patron visits, number of computer uses and number of computer hours used.
Of the 20 libraries in the system, Pelahatchie is one of seven in the medium category. The others include Florence, Reservoir, Morton, Mendenhall, Raleigh and Taylorsville. CMRLS serves approximately 216,000 citizens in Rankin, Scott, Simpson and Smith counties.
CMRLS Director Mara Polk said, “Under the management of Tina Mauney, the Pelahatchie Public Library consistently strives to provide the best customer service and inviting atmosphere by keeping current and popular materials for her community. Mrs. Mauney’s dedication and passion for her patrons is reflected in her library’s statistics which attributed to being selected as library of the year for a medium-sized branch. The CMRLS administration is proud of her efforts!”
