McComb native, and Belhaven University alumus, John Brady will be the featured speaker at the C Spire Gillom/Howell Trophy presentations on Monday March 6 th at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Brady is best known for the time he spent at LSU as the head basketball coach following the departure of Dale Brown in 1997.

In his ten years at the helm of the Tigers, his teams won two regular season SEC titles and made four NCAA tournament appearances. His 2005 -06 team lead by Glen “Big Baby” Davis reached the Final Four but were beaten by UCLA in the semi-finals.

Brady finished his coaching at Arkansas State following the 2015-16 season. During his career Brady also served as an assistant coach at Mississippi State under Bob Boyd and Richard Williams.

Twice the SEC Coach of the Year, Brady holds an overall record of 402- 344 in the college ranks. The C Spire Gillom and C Spire Howell Trophies are presented annually to the Most Outstanding Women’s and Men’s college basketball players in Mississippi. The 2017 event will be Monday, March 6 th with lunch at 11:30am and the program to follow. Finalists for this year will be announced this Sunday and fans may vote for their favorites beginning on Monday morning at 8:30 am by visiting www.csopavoting.com. The fan vote accounts for 10% of the final vote with media votes covering the other 90%. Fan voting continues until 5 pm on March 4 th .
