WHAT: UM School of Dentistry’s inaugural Dental Mission Week, including Give Kids A Smile Day®, provides essential oral health care and education to children and adults in underserved communities.

 

The event primarily targets adult patients from homeless shelters and those who have received dental care at the Jackson Free Clinic.

 

WHEN: Monday-Friday, Feb. 6-10.

 

Media are invited to attend adult care Feb. 6, 8-10 a.m. and Give Kids A Smile® Day Feb. 10, 9-11 a.m.

 

WHERE: School of Dentistry, 2500 North State St., Jackson, Miss.

 

WHY: The School of Dentistry’s goal is to provide free care to 800 patients – that’s 200 per day. Through coordination with Mississippi Donated Dental Services, the school will also provide 20 sets of dentures to patients who have no teeth.

 

On Friday, the School of Dentistry will host its 13th annual Give Kids A Smile Day serving third- and fourth-grade students from Jackson’s Galloway, Johnson and Walton elementaries and fourth- and fifth-graders from Power APAC Elementary.

 

MEDIA PARKING: Lot 21 across from the Norman C. Nelson Student Union. Take Lakeland Drive to East University Drive. Go left, then right onto North University Drive. The Lot 21 entrance is on the left. Parking will be validated upon request.
