Jacob Cordell was awarded the $300 Cash Medders Memorial Scholarship at the East Rankin graduation ceremonies on May 20. The first annual scholarship was given in memory of eight-year-old Cash Medders who passed away on August 25, 2017.
The inscription on the plaque says, “For love of life, family and friends; encouragement and support of others.”
More than $20,000 was raised for the scholarship according to East Rankin Headmaster Dan Boyce. Elisa McKinion, Cash’s mother, said, “Everyone has been amazing, going above and beyond to remember Cash and carry on his legacy.”
